England, did not show any urgency

http://cricket.123india.com –

The strategy adopted by England on a perfect batting strip was hard to understand, all the more because they lost wickets at crucial junctures in going for ill-advised shots. Harbhajan Singh, who picked the wickets of Alistair Cook and Paul Collingwood, saw little logic in England’s game plan.
"They did not show urgency at any point of time. The first session saw only 63 runs scored. This was easily the best time to bat. To win the toss and bat first is a huge advantage in these conditions. If we had batted first I am sure we would have scored in excess of 300," said Harbhajan.

INDIA VS ENGLAND 1st TEST DEC 2008:-England to play two spinners in Chennai: Pietersen

http://cricket-cricketnews.blogspot.com –

Hoping to extract turn on an otherwise flat track, England skipper Kevin Pietersen on Wednesday said the visitors would go into the first cricket Test against India with a two-pronged spin attack comprising Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann."It's a decision we have taken because we think that the wicket may spin. We had a look at the wicket and I think it would spin and (having two spinners) probably gives us the best attacking option," Pietersen said in the pre-match press conference.

England were too defensive: Harbhajan

http://cricket.timesofindia.indiatimes.com –

Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh felt that England were far too defensive and wasted a good opening stand on the first day of the firstTest on Thursday.Harbhajan said Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma bowled extremely well to restrict the visitors to 229 for five after Andrew Strauss (123) and Alastair Cook (52) put on a century stand."England won a good toss and today was the best day to bat on this pitch. But for some reason, they were too defensive. They scored some 60-odd runs in the first session and 229 the entire day. Had we batted, we would have scored more than 300," Harbhajan said.

England should not complain about massive security: Fletcher

http://cricket.timesofindia.indiatimes.com –

Former England coach Duncan Fletcher feels the Mumbai terror attacks have neutralised India’s 5-0 thrashing of visitors in the One-Day
Internationals and the Test series will be wide open."It could be quite difficult for England to prepare properly given that they only made the decision to play in Chennai a couple of days ago, but at the same time India’s preparations won’t have been much better," Fletcher wrote in his column in the Guardian.
