OTTAWA - After an unpromising start, Canada passed its toughest test of the world junior hockey championship Wednesday.
An overhyped and scattered Canadian team quickly fell behind 3-0 to the U.S., and trailed for the first time in the tournament, before pulling themselves together in a wild 7-4 victory.

John Tavares was the star in the night session as Canada had an easy time in defeating the Czech Republic, 8-1, on Friday night in Ottawa.

With his father looking on and the Pengrowth Saddledome crowd behind him, Brett Sutter sure made an impact in his NHL debut.Sutter, the son of Calgary general manager Darryl Sutter, scored his first goal at 3:59 of the third period Tuesday night, helping rally the Flames to a 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
